The amount of non-residents’ medium and long-term deposits hit a new all-time peak in February, of 8.4bn Euros. This is in fact reflecting funding raised by domestic banks from shareholders. At the end of last year, the volume of these deposits started climbing visibly after having stalled for a relatively long period, between September 2009 and October 2010, fluctuating between 7.2 and 7.6bn euros.
